Ministry & Track Options

The primary purpose of the Ministry Residency at Brentwood Baptist Church is to equip the next generation of church leaders for a lifetime of healthy ministry through holistic (head, heart, and hands) training.

To ascertain program effectiveness and determine resident competencies and compatibility with Brentwood Baptist culture and values, various learning goals and evaluation tools will be developed and implemented at the conclusion of each cohort.

Grounded in WORSHIP

The resident will be able to articulate and demonstrate Pastoral leadership and preaching and worship planning and leading best practices by examining pertinent biblical texts, reviewing applicable literature, engaging in reflective discussions, being immersed in a supervised ministry setting to implement the material learned and by practicing skills under the guidance of ministry leaders.

Growing in DISCIPLESHIP

The resident will be able to articulate and demonstrate discipleship program leadership (JourneyOn), and teaching and training best practices by examining pertinent biblical texts, reviewing applicable literature, engaging in reflective discussions, being immersed in a supervised ministry setting to implement the material learned and by practicing skills under the guidance of ministry leaders.

Going in SERVICE

The resident will be able to articulate and demonstrate congregational care best practices by examining pertinent biblical texts, reviewing applicable literature, engaging in reflective discussions, being immersed in a supervised ministry setting to implement the material learned and by practicing skills under the guidance of ministry leaders.

Connecting PEOPLE

The resident will be able to articulate and demonstrate missions, evangelism and church multiplication best practices by examining pertinent biblical texts, reviewing applicable literature, engaging in reflective discussions, being immersed in a supervised ministry setting to implement the material learned and by practicing skills under the guidance of ministry leaders.

Church Leadership and Management

The resident will be able to articulate and demonstrate the skills necessary to both lead and manage an ever growing ministry and church by examining pertinent biblical texts, reviewing applicable literature, engaging in reflective discussions, being immersed in a supervised ministry setting to implement the material learned and by practicing skills under the guidance of ministry leaders.

Spiritual Formation and Soul Care

The resident will be able to articulate and demonstrate spiritual disciplines, practices and habits necessary for healthy ministry and an ever deepening relationship with Jesus by examining pertinent biblical texts, reviewing applicable literature, engaging in reflective journaling, case studies, assessments and discussions, being immersed in a supervised ministry setting to implement the material learned and by practicing skills under the guidance of ministry leaders.

The resident will be able to articulate and demonstrate social, emotional, mental and physical patterns that promote health in each area by examining pertinent biblical texts, reviewing applicable literature, engaging in reflective journaling, case studies, assessments and discussions, being immersed in a supervised ministry setting to implement the material learned and by practicing skills under the guidance of ministry leaders.

Cultural and Emotional Intelligence

The resident will be able to articulate and demonstrate Brentwood Baptist cultural values and healthy self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management patterns by examining pertinent biblical texts, reviewing applicable literature, engaging in reflective journaling, case studies, assessments and discussions, being immersed in a supervised ministry setting to implement the material learned and by practicing skills under the guidance of ministry leaders.
